The title of my blog came from a ladies retreat I attended in 2003, where I received a word from the Lord from Isaiah 43 that now graces my banner. He was telling me not to dwell on the past, because He was ready to do a new thing in my life. Little did I know that the “new thing” would include burying my parents, working outside the home, putting my kids in school, church hopping, teenage rebellion, family counseling, planning two weddings in four months, becoming Catholic, becoming a Grammie, two cross country moves in as many years, and many, many lessons in waiting on the Lord.
A friend remarked on my journey, “how many lifetimes is that?” It’s been a faith-stretching time, for sure, but in it, we continue to find God faithful to His word, and we are learning new, deeper ways of trusting in His will for our lives.
The purpose for “New Things” is at least two-fold: First and foremost, I want this to be a place where I can document our journey of promise and pass on the lessons I’m learning on the journey. It will also provide an outlet where I can share precious memories, favorite recipes, and general “life stuff” news with family and friends.
New Things is an award free blog. While I’m flattered at the nominations, I am not comfortable with the amount of time, energy, and personal information required in the acceptance of these awards. If you find yourself here, and are blessed, praise GOD! Welcome to my cyber “home”. Feedback gives a blog its atmosphere, so come on in, kick your shoes off, stay and chat awhile.
Blessings

How many lifetimes is that Lyn? I thought my year was bad! I did a post “Anticipating God’s Grace,” you might want to read. That helped me more then anything in the world. You are a testimony of God for us all. Thanks for sharing this. God Bless, SR
I’ve been asked that before. It’s been hard, and I’m still learning, and waiting. Thank you, SR.
I love the Issiah quote! I have never heard it — such a gift to be able to look forward.
Welcome!!! Thanks for the comment. I had never heard it before that Ladies’ retreat either. I have found so much inspiration and comfort in those words. God is good!
Thank you for your likes, and for your follow. It led me to discover your own blog–and I love it! I will look forward to every post!
Yay! I am enjoying your blog as well. Looking forward to chatting with you! Welcome!

Lyn,
I did not realise Reinkat had nominated you for this award until this afternoon, when I read hers. I nominated you also, so there you go 🙂 Two bloggers who think yours is great. If you have the time to do all the stuff as I know how busy you are that would be great. If not, I do not think Reinkat and I know myself would not mind you getting it anyways. Mine is in my Recent Post. God Bless, SR
I have been running crazy this week. Thank you so much, I will try to get to that this weekend. You guys are the best!
Thanks so much for the follow. 🙂
Thank you!!!! Welcome to New Things, I hope you will be as blessed here as I am at your place 🙂 Join me this Friday for my first ever virtual retreat, don’t be shy, jump in and let’s fellowship!
Blessings,
Lyn

Thank YOU, Celeste! I’m enjoying yours as well. 🙂

It sounds like you have quite a full life! I love the passage from Isaiah 43. I have yet to check out more of your blog but from what I see, it’s very lovely.
Thank you for the kind words, and welcome to New Things. It has been an adventure, for sure. God is good, and I can say with King David that “I have never seen the righteous forsaken, or their children begging for bread”. God has been good and generous, and always right on time.
Blessings.
I had started drawing my first card today! Thanks for your inspiration!

LOVE it, sf! Can’t wait to see the rest!!!
I could take lessons from you on people drawing…have not mastered that yet myself.
Blessings on your new venture!
Lyn
Thanks so much! Goodness, if I could draw such happy trees and butterflies as you do, and post up ’em on my wall, I’d never be sad!
🙂 you making me blush again.
Lyn,
I wanted to make sure you knew that my blog, Contemplative Homeschool, has moved from WordPress.com to a self-hosted site. I don’t believe you will be able to access it any more through your WordPress Reader. Please visit my new site. I hope you will re-subscribe in some other manner. I didn’t know how else to contact you.
Thanks and God bless, Connie Rossini

Hi Lyn! My name is Cameron and I had a quick question about your blog and was hoping you could email me. 🙂 Thanks so much!
Hi Cameron, welcome to New Things. I’m happy to answer your question here, as my email is private.
Lyn
Hi, Lyn! I got another So Brave, Young, and Handsome book from my library’s used book sale and would like to give it to you, if you’d like to have it. Just email me your mailing address and I will send it to you via media mail. My email is coffee.rehab (at) yahoo (dot) com. The post about the book: http://untitledpress.wordpress.com/2013/12/13/so-brave-young-and-handsome-2/
p.s. Now that I’m finished with my AA degree (hallelujah!) I’m on the desperate hunt for a job again myself. Hope I can get to where you’re at, with a home and all soon. Will be taking another class (just one) in the meantime, though. Hoping to keep going one class at a time, until I can get a bachelor’s. Oy, whatta a long road it seems.
If you prefer not the receive the book, don’t worry, I understand. It wasn’t until I had sent this message, that I saw the comment right above mine, where you mention about your email being private. I was gonna do a free giveaway for the book on my blog at first, so if you’d prefer not to receive the book, then I will just do that instead again. :oD
Thank you so much sf for thinking of me! You should have the giveaway on your blog this time. I have limited storage and display space here…but will be sure to check it out from the library to read. In our move and busy-ness I had forgotten about it, I’m glad for the reminder.
Hi Lyn! I absolutely love the look of your blog and I’ve been enjoying reading your posts. Beautifully written and very inspiring! I just followed. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog at Hearing God’s Whisper and for following. 🙂
Hello Lyn! Thank you smooch for the follow.
